Who we are
Klamath Living Craft World (the game) is a free online building game set in the Klamath Basin. It is owned and run by Lucky Duck Productions LLC (we, us), 5416 Running Y Rd Ste D, Klamath Falls, OR 97601, phone 541-205-3750, email troymiller@luckyduckproductionsllc.com. Klamath Living is a brand name used by Lucky Duck Productions LLC, not a separate company. This policy covers the game, its website at play.klamathliving.com and the beta request form on that website. Questions about this policy go to the email above.
Who can play
The game is for players 13 and older. Players under 18 need a parent's or legal guardian's permission, and the parent or guardian agrees to this policy and the Terms of Play for them. A child under 13 may play only on an account their own parent asks us to make, after that parent gives consent using a consent form the parent signs and sends back to us, checked by our staff (or a short video call with our staff if the parent has no printer). One parent cannot consent for another family's child.
When you first play, we ask only the month and year you were born. We use it to put your account in an age group (under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 and over) that decides your safety settings. We keep the age group and the month it next changes, not your birth date, and you cannot change the answer yourself. A player who tells us they are under 13 without a parent-requested account can explore and build, but chat and messages stay off.
What we collect
- Account: your player name and password. We may email you a temporary password when we set up your account; change it after you log in. We store only a scrambled check of your password, never the password itself.
- Age group: as described above.
- Game play: what you build, what your character wears, your Basin Passport stamps, coins, badges and levels, and where you are in the game world.
- Everything typed or sent in the game: public chat, private messages, notes sent with
/feedback, friend and block choices, reports, and messages our safety filter held. - Connection data: the internet address (IP) your game connects from and basic browser or app information, which our server needs to send you the game. It is kept in server logs for up to 14 days.
- If you ask for a beta invite on our website: your name, email, town, whether you are a sponsor, player or parent, the player name you want, and how you heard about the game. A parent asking for a child's invite gives the parent's own contact details, not the child's.
- If you are 13 or older and sign up at the in-game Klamath Living desk: the name and email you give us, so we can send what you asked for.
We do not ask any player for a home address, school, phone number, photo, voice recording or exact location, and we do not let players upload pictures. We do not use advertising trackers or sell advertising based on what you do in the game.
How we use it
- to run the game, keep your account and builds, and let you play with friends;
- to keep players safe: moderation, safety reports, enforcing the Terms of Play;
- to answer beta requests, feedback and questions, and to tell you about changes to the game;
- to count, in totals only, how the game and its sponsors' places are used (for example how many visits a sponsor's shop had). These counts never name a player.
- to meet legal duties and protect our rights and the rights and safety of others.
Chat is recorded, and how moderation works
To keep everyone safe we record everything typed or sent in the game, including private messages. Records are kept for 90 days, or up to 2 years when they are part of a safety report, and are then deleted. Only our moderators (Lucky Duck Productions staff) can read them, and every read is logged.
An automatic filter that follows fixed rules (no artificial intelligence) holds messages that contain links, bad words, phone numbers, email addresses, street addresses or school names, so a person on our team can check them. The filter never bans anyone; a person decides. We may remove content, mute, jail for a short time (never more than 2 minutes), suspend or ban accounts as the Terms of Play describe, and we may share records with law enforcement when the law requires it or a player's safety is at risk.
Sponsors and advertising
Klamath Living Craft World is free because local businesses sponsor it. Sponsors appear in the game as signs, shops, characters and offers, much like advertising on a social media platform. Sponsors never receive your chat, messages, age group, email or any record that names you. A business's own person may play its character; that person follows the same rules as every player, may send a private message only to an adult who chose to receive messages from everyone, and never to anyone under 18 unless they are friends and, for a child, the parent approved. Links to a sponsor's website take you to their site, where their own privacy policy applies.
Who we share it with
- We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- Our own staff and contractors who run the game for Lucky Duck Productions LLC, bound to keep it confidential.
- Service providers that host our servers and send our email, only to provide those services.
- Law enforcement or others when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
- A buyer or successor if Lucky Duck Productions LLC's business is sold or reorganized, under this same policy.
Children and parents
We follow the care the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) asks of services used by children. We collect from a child under 13 only what the game needs: the player name, the age group, builds, looks and game chat. Chat for a child under 13 is limited to family and friends the parent approved, and only after the parent's verified consent.
A parent or guardian can, at any time and for free:
- see what we hold about their child, including chat records;
- tell us to stop collecting anything more (we then close the child's account);
- ask us to delete the account and its records. We do it within 10 days; backups age out within 14 days. Records that are part of an open safety report are kept until it is closed, and we tell the parent.
- Email troymiller@luckyduckproductionsllc.com or call 541-205-3750. We check that you are the parent or guardian before we share anything.
How long we keep things
- Chat and message records: 90 days; anything that is part of a safety report: 2 years.
- Server logs with internet addresses: up to 14 days.
- Beta requests: until the beta ends or you ask us to delete them.
- Your account, builds and look: while the account exists. You, or your parent or guardian, can ask us to delete them at any time.
How we protect it
The game runs on our own server behind a firewall. Chat records are moved within minutes to our private records system, where only our moderators can read them. Passwords are never stored in readable form. Before we open sign-up to children under 13 beyond parent-requested family accounts, we will have a written security program for children's information, with a named person in charge, reviewed every year. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or close your account, by emailing us. We answer within 30 days. You can block other players, choose who may message you (players 18 and over), and stop any email from us with the link in it. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Changes to this policy
We will post any change here with a new date before it applies. If a change affects children's information, we ask parents again first. The date at the top shows the latest version.
